Casa Modiano is located in Theotokopoulou street of the old town of Chania. Hoping to attract visitors who love old renovated projects, our aim was to create a philosophy that respects the existing character of the building while creating a brand new fresh hospitality space.
Given its original functions and age, the old roof of the building was dark and closed. We decided to rebuild it and create a new steel structure which now supports the roof, which integrates glazed openings at strategic points, allowing plenty of natural light to flood the interior at the dark side of the building.
Casa Modiano thoughtful renovation and material selection – combining reuse of old elements , soft wooden details, neutral style furniture, blank walls and sleek stone tiles – successfully expresses both the building memory, and its current use.
